Jeton Casinos
The online world is now full of eWallets. The most famous eWallet of all, of course, is PayPal, which initially latched onto the back of eBay and expanded once everyone learned that they could sell their unwanted junk online for dollars and profit. Both Skrill and Neteller took a different approach as they – and Neteller in particular – rode on the back of the expanding online casino market in the early 2000s. Those three are the biggest names when it comes to eWallet payments, but there are many others, such as ecoPayz and Payeer.
You would think the eWallet market would have reached saturation point by now, and indeed there are over 100 eWallets available all across the globe. However, that hasn’t stopped new online eWallets from starting up, and to try and make themselves heard in markets where more established eWallets have already gained a stranglehold. This perfectly describes Jeton, which is an eWallet that is becoming accepted by an increasing number of online casinos.
A Brief History of Jeton
Jeton was conceived and brought into being in 2017 by the company La Orange, based in London in the UK. The idea was to create an eWallet with a slight difference – via a Jeton card people could make real-world purchases via their Jeton account as long as they had enough money in the account to cover the payment.
While Jeton has gone from strength to strength online casinos have been slow to give players the option of making Jeton payments via their cashier, preferring instead to stick to traditional eWallets such as Skrill, Neteller and PayPal. The good news for casino players who prefer to have as many options as possible when it comes to deposits and withdrawals is that an increasing number of casino sites are beginning to accept Jeton as a deposit method and for withdrawals.
Jeton – Pros and Cons
Pros
- Easy to set up, and free to do so
- You can fund your Jeton account in many ways
- You can use Jeton for both withdrawals and deposits
- You can use a Jeton card in for real-world purchases
Cons
- The number of casinos that accept Jeton is relatively small
- There are some fees attached to Jeton payments
How to use Jeton at Online Casinos
Jeton is a little different to other eWallets in that it does try and work in the same way as a bank does. You can run your eWallet account just as you would your bank account and you can even ask to be supplied with a Jeton card which will allow you to make pre-paid payments in the real world. As this card is supplied only by Jeton themselves (and not a third party payments system provider like Visa) it is only accepted at retailers that accept Jeton payments.
You do not need to have a Jeton card in order to make a payment at an online casino; you just need to have a Jeton account. It costs nothing to open a Jeton account, and you can easily link your Jeton account to a Visa credit or debit card, and in some countries, you are able to link your Jeton account directly to your bank account.
Once you have funded your Jeton account you can move money into your online casino account. You of course need to find an online casino that happily accepts Jeton payments. Head to that casino’s cashier and choose Jeton as the provider of your payment, and the amount that you want to deposit, then confirm your transfer.
You will then be asked your Jeton username (typically your email address) and your password, Once you have logged onto your Jeton account you need to okay your deposit. Once you have done this the transfer process will begin. Most online casinos will process a Jeton transfer within a less than a minute.
You can withdraw to your Jeton account too. The withdrawal process is practically identical to the deposit process, expect of course that the money is moving in the opposite direction. Sadly, withdrawals are not as speedy as deposits at online casinos that accept Jeton. Most casinos will have a ‘pending period’ that can last up to 72 hours, and then may take up to three further days to send you your money. You should always look for an online casino that processes withdrawals quickly.
Jeton deposits are not free. Jeton will charge you 2.5% of your deposit – the online casino should not charge you anything for making a deposit or withdrawal via their cashier. Transferring money from your Jeton account to your bank account does not cost anything.
You can also send Jeton payments to other people with Jeton accounts. There is a fee for this though and it is paid by the person sending the money – 2%.
Conclusion
Jeton is yet another eWallet but at least this eWallet comes with a difference – you can apply for a Jeton card so you can make purchases in the real world using your card. Note that you must have sufficient funds in your Jeton account to cover any payment you make with a Jeton card.
You, of course, do not need to use a Jeton card to make deposits at an online casino via Jeton, and you can easily make withdrawals too. There are fees, but those fees are typical of most other eWallets.
Just one final word – no matter the method you use to make payments at an online casino, make sure you gamble responsibly and for entertainment purposes only. Online gambling will never become a reliable source of income.
