Finn and The Swirly Spin Slot by NetEnt
Finn and The Swirly Spin slot will probably look like your regular Irish themed slot machine at first, but NetEnt made sure to create a very interesting atmosphere in it, and they designed it with symbols that behave differently than in other games. It’s a unique experience for sure and one of the more unique games that NetEnt has released in 2017.
First of all, you get 5×5 reels that you play on in Finn and The Swirly Spin slot. You can get up to 10 wins in a single round, pay lines of sorts if you will since combinations are formed on vertical or horizontal lines, with 3+ matching symbols. Looking at the features, there are some unique ones there as well, including:
- Four Random Features
- Win Avalanches
- Four types of Free Spins
- Free Spins Keys
- Wild symbols
Theme & Graphics
The theme of Finn and the Swirly Spin is the only thing about it that will feel average, even though the actual implementation is not. You have an Irish theme here, one that makes Finn a leprechaun with red hair, which is singing on a flute. The 5×5 reels are made from stone, while nearby trees look cartoonish and not quite natural, but still very well designed.
Moving on to the major symbols that you’re going to see, these give you the card suits at first, but then there are various luck related icons, like the lucky horseshoe, four-leaf clovers, acorns, but also rubies and golden keys.
One of the things that define the way these slot machine works is the swirl like the motion of the symbols on the reels. The symbols will file-up in a swirl like motion on the 5×5 reels, moving from the border towards the middle position.
The position from the bottom left will always start off with the Key symbol, which is the trigger of the free spins. It moves towards the centre position as you get wins and avalanches from existing symbols. The Key will not disappear, and if it manages to reach the middle position of the 5×5 game area it will trigger the free spins.
A total of four types of free spins are available, and they will unlock one by one, as you keep triggering this feature. These are the Star Bar, Lava Lair, Lucky Mug and Golden Pot Free Spins. All sorts of cool features are available in each one, from sticky wilds to guaranteed wins or random wilds.
A more regular type of feature that you might encounter is the Golden Star Wild. These will be substitutes, and they will be used only when combined with the regular symbols. When a wild is part of a win, then it explodes and removes symbols that are adjacent to it, both vertically and horizontally.
Avalanches are available in the game and they will make the winning symbols explode, allowing others to come in and try to form more combinations. If the combo doesn’t have a wild in it, then a new one will be created in the place of one of the removed symbols.
Besides the different types of free spins and wilds, if that wasn’t enough, you will be glad to hear that the slot also delivers four variants of random features. This occurs after an initial spin, and it could give you a feature like Starfall Wilds, Dragon Destroy, Irish Luck or Magic Transform.
Betting & Jackpots
When placing a bet in Finn and the Swirly Spinn, you do it on 10 active lines, though the game doesn’t really mention having anything of the sort. You can boost the bet level-up to 10, and this will tell you how many coins are used for each of the lines. The coin value is on the other side of the bottom row of options, and it goes from $0.01 to $2. With bets of 10 to 100 coins, the full range of the game’s bets is going to be $0.10 to $200.
Now, for the top prizes that are mentioned on the paytable, the best combinations that are going to form will have Five Rubies in them and will pay 500x. For the game’s betting options, this will translate into a reward of up to 5,000 coins and a top value of $10,000 per combo. With 10 vertical and horizontal lines available, you could have up to $100,000 in rewards coming from a single spin.
Moving on to the RTP that’s been announced for this unique game, you will be happy to hear that it’s a relatively high 96.61%, so it’s not the kind of slot machine where the features are complex just so that the player will forget about the fact that he’s not winning.
