Review of Gold Roulette by Wazdan
Online casinos are usually awash with software or RNG-based versions of roulette. With so much choice, how do you know which versions of roulette are worth your time, and which are best avoided? Hopefully, this review of Wazdan’s Gold Roulette by NewCasinos.org should help you make your mind up!
If you don’t fancy playing roulette online at a ‘real-world’ live casino (and such gamesol tend to be quite slow-paced), then your only real alternative is to take a software version of everyone’s favourite gambling game for a spin. With this faithful rendition of the old casino classic from Wazdan, you get the opportunity to do just that!
This game is as authentic a version of casino roulette you can possibly get, complete with all the usual betting options and ‘racetrack’ bets available too. Note that this version is based on European roulette, and not American. If you know anything about roulette then you will know that you should always choose European over American roulette, as the all-important house edge is better for the player.
How to Play Gold Roulette
The first thing you are presented with by this game is the betting table. This is the normal inside/outside betting table that most casual roulette players will be familiar with. If you are more hardcore then you will recognise the racetrack above the normal betting table. Here you are able to place bets on numbers by their position on the wheel and not by numerical sequence. It is important that you avoid the racetrack section of the betting table unless you really know what you are doing.
There are a number of convenient chips by the side of the betting table. These are set depending upon the whims of the online casino hosting the game, but it’s a good bet that the lowest chip will be for $1 or whatever your chosen currency is. The highest is likely to be for $100, with a $1,000 table maximum.
Betting is simply a matter of picking up your chips as you so wish and then placing them upon the betting table. As a useful guide, the table will flash to show which numbers you are covering, and details will emerge on the left-hand side of the screen showing you the potential return if you hit a lucky number.
If you want to place ‘racetrack’ bets then click the ‘Racetrack’ button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. The screen will scroll down so that the racetrack will appear. If you want to cover an area of the wheel use the plus and minus buttons to choose how much of the wheel you want to be covered, then double click the central number in your selection. A chip will then be placed on every number of the section of the wheel you want to be covered.
Once you are happy with your bet, click the ‘spin’ button at the bottom of the page. The display will shift upwards to display the roulette wheel. A tiny ball will spin around the wheel until it settles into a slot. The winning number, colour and odd/even will be announced. The winning number will also flash on the betting table. If you win, then your winning chips will be added to chip count and the courier will announce ‘you win!’.
If you want to repeat your bet you can now simply click ‘Last Bet’ to do just that. If not, you can start afresh by placing chips on the betting table. If you win, you can gamble your stake with a red/black guessing game. If you prefer you can collect your chips and keep playing.
Some additional controls are:
Autoplay: Set up a bet and keeping it riding as many times as you want.
Cancel bet: Clear the table of your chips.
Tortoise/Hare: Tortoise mode is the default but if you prefer faster play you can select ‘Hare’. The ball will spin around the wheel-less times with this option selected.
- Game type: European/French
- Min bet: Up to the hosting casino
- Max bet (single): Up to the hosting casino
- Max bet (table): Up to the hosting casino
Graphics and Sounds
Graphics-wise, this game is not likely to win any awards. This is a basic game so if you go to play online roulette for graphical thrills then don’t play this game! Sounds include a tinkling piano (which can be muted) and the female croupier. You will have to get used to the odd way that the croupier says ‘odd’!
A decent-enough rendering of the most classic of classic casino games. There are better versions of roulette, but there are much worse ones too. The best that can be said for this slot is that it gets the job done! If you just want a basic European roulette game, then this Wazdan title is just is the ticket!
