As more MegaWays style video slots are being released by a lot of different developers, there are also a lot more themes and design styles being approached through them. We’re now getting the first fruit style design as well, through StakeLogic’s Super Wild Megaways, a slot game which follows the classic recipe quite closely. It’s something that some may like, others not so much, but the important part is that you’re also getting the huge jackpots of the series, along with a long list of excellent features. The only part that feels dated is the design, and that’s something we can get past of. Of course, since the game has 6 reels and up to 117,649 Megaways, it’s going to be the type to offer high volatility, but not as dangerous as it might be in others.

Theme & Graphics

The theme you see in Super Wild Megaways slot is a classic fruit one, the same kind of look being sported in thousands of other games already. While incredibly common in both classic and video slots, the fruit theme is used for the first time in a game with Megaways, blending the classic side with the modern this way.

Visually, it’s very much an older game, with symbols which will be familiar, and with a design quality that takes us back to the 90s. As the major symbols present here, you will discover several logos or stars when it comes to its features, while the others have the lucky 7, melons, grapes, strawberries, plums, bells, pears, oranges, lemons and cherries.

Special Features

Going beyond the very old theme and the graphics that take us back a few decades, Super Wild Megaways is mostly a modern slot machine where it counts, in its math model and features. It’s not very different from the other Megaways games we’ve seen so far, which is good since those are popular and loved by a lot of players already.

For starters, the way that you’re getting a random number of ways to win (Megaways), is by landing 2 to 7 random symbols on each of the 6 reels. There is an extra horizontal reel with four symbols, at the top of the middle four columns, which is where some of the feature symbols will appear, along with regular ones.

Whenever a winning combination forms, the Cascading Reels mechanic triggers next, helping to bring a new wave of symbols that will replace the ones involved. There can be additional waves of wins this way.

Star Wilds

A blue star, with a gold Wild logo in the front, will be the substitute symbol. It’s a regular wild, that you get to use next to any regular symbols, but not as a replacement for the other feature triggers.

Scatter Mystery Symbols

One of the two scatters present in the game, is the Scatter Mystery icon. Their appearance on the reels, at least three times, and potentially even six times or more will bring rewards within certain ranges. The best potential outcome is a mystery prize between 40x and 500x the stake when at least six such symbols are visible. If they appear during the bonus feature, then the top payout is fixed at 200x the stake.

Free Spins With Unlimited Multipliers

A second scatter exists, the one featuring the SW logo. Once again, you need them visible on the reels, doesn’t matter exactly where. Four or more will be enough, to get you to the free spins mode.

An unlimited multiplier is offered here, and it’s the same one that we’re seeing in a lot of other games of this type. It goes up by 1x, following every win and cascade that follows. This multiplier goes only up, so the more cascading reels trigger, the better the outcome for the later wins obtained in the free spins mode.

Should mystery symbols show up, they pay 10 to 200 coins, for 3 to 6+ present, but that’s before the multiplier kicks in and boosts their value.

As you can see, the same as in most games using Megaways, it’s during the free spins that the highest potential of the game comes through.

Betting & Jackpots

Nobody expects you to place a bet on a certain number of lines, so in a game like this, you’re just picking the total amount for the entire spin. The $0.20 to $40 wagers placed by you inside, will get you anywhere from 324 to 117,649 ways to win, so that part is random as well.

The awesome potential of the MegaWays slots has made them fun for a lot of people, particularly since there are recorded big wins, not just theoretical jackpots that nobody’s seeing, like in other games. In the case of Super Wild Megaways, they’ve placed the cap of the game’s rewards at an impressive 24,635x the stake, in line with what we’ve seen in other slots.

Of course, they designed the game with High volatility, it’s typical for a release that can make you rich because, for one player to get a 20,000x jackpot, others need to have 20,000 losing spins. Ultimately, we rely on the RTP to tell us if the game is fair or not, and here we’re getting the expected level, at 96.07%.

Verdict

If you’re a fan of the classic genre, and you’re feeling left out when you’re looking at all those players enjoying highly volatile Megaways slots, then this one’s for you. They’ve kept the fun features, big top payouts and high volatility of the category intact, so you get to experience everything available in other games, but at the same time, they also implemented the most basic fruit-style design that they could’ve.

Super Wild Megaways is not a classic game, it’s quite modern and typical for its category, but the graphics try to appeal to a certain type of player that seems to like the oldies, and it does a great job with that. You can still play it, even if you’re into more modern designs, provided that you can get past the dated look.
