Online bookmakers are set to go and sports gamblers are definitely eager to get started as week three of the NFL Preseason schedule will kick off on Thursday night. Let’s take a look at the top five preseason games to bet on this weekend.
Thursday, August 23: Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles +3.5
The Cleveland Browns will host the defending Super Bowl Champions on Thursday night. The Eagles have struggled in their first two preseason games, but they’ve been without many of their starters. Cleveland has split their first two games despite getting poor play from their top two quarterbacks. Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield are expected to split playing time on Thursday night, and will be facing a tough Eagles defense. Philadelphia is expected to give their starters some reps in this game, and they should look sharp in this one. Look for the Eagles to earn their first win of the preseason by defeating the Cleveland Browns.
Friday, August 24: Minnesota Vikings -3.5 vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Minnesota Vikings have split their first two preseason games while the Seattle Seahawks come into this game 0-2. Kirk Cousins struggled in week two, but the Vikings are expecting the quarterback to bounce back against the Seahawks. Seattle has a ton of question marks entering the 2018 season, and that will play a role in this contest. The Minnesota Vikings should defeat the Seahawks by at least a touchdown on Friday night.
Friday, August 24: Oakland Raiders vs. Green Bay Packers +7.0
The Green Bay Packers are a surprising 7 point underdog against the Oakland Raiders this weekend. The Packers have been the most dominant team this preseason, blowing out both the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not expected to play in this game, but the Packers still have a ton of offensive talent. The Raiders defense has looked strong, but their offense hasn’t been able to put up many points. The Raiders might defeat the Packers on Friday, but Green Bay will cover. Bet the Packers +7.0 in this game.
Saturday, August 25: Los Angeles Rams -3.5 vs. Houston Texans
The Houston Texans have been one of the surprise teams this preseason, defeating both the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. The Rams enter this game 1-1 but looked sharp in their last game against the Oakland Raiders. Both Jared Goff and Todd Gurley are expected to suit up for the Rams in this game after sitting out the previous two. The Texans are expected to continue to limit snaps for quarterback Deshaun Watson as he returns from injury. The Rams offense should be able to overpower the Texans in this game to earn the victory.
Saturday, August 25: Indianapolis Colts -1.0 vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Colts are a one-point favorite over the 49ers on Saturday. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to play the entire first half in this game, giving the Colts a decided advantage. Luck missed the entire 2017 season, but should be able to lead the Colts to some points against the second and third team defense of San Francisco. 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo appears to be ready for the regular season and might be held out against the Colts. All signs point to the Colts winning this game.
