Felix Gaming is a relatively new developer of gaming content, and slot machines specifically, which started in 2016. The initial talks happened in a coffee shop from Bulgaria, with its founders being three guys who had experience in the land-based niche. It’s a UK company that had become better known since 2017 when they launched their first 3 slot machines.

As of late 2020, they have a total of 18 titles, so they’re still expanding. A big part of their story is that they started the company based on player feedback, which is supposedly a big part of their inspiration.

Felix Gaming is not the easiest to find developer, but its games do show up in dozens of casinos accessible from over two dozen countries, so they’re not entirely new to the market either. From the information that I could find on the company, they were founded in 2016. The three people who were part of it from the beginning are Bilyan Balinoff (CEO), Anton Mutov (R&D) Dimitar Dimitrov. They already had experience in the industry, at Casino Technology, and they wanted to create a company based on what players wanted, as they felt like that was missing.

They launched their first 3 slot machines as exclusive titles at SlotsMillion, back in 2017, and then they added their slots to new platforms, including those from SoftSwiss, iGaming Platform and Groove Gaming.

They’re not the fastest expanding company around, it’s still a small operation, with somewhere around a dozen employees (more or less), and they only launched 4 new slot machines in 2020. Nevertheless, I like where they’re going, and they’re worth a shot.

The Leading Felix Gaming Games

Though they have their roots in the land-based market, you wouldn’t think it, since the first impression is a good one for their games, at least based on their graphics. They’ve started with slots like Fruity Mania, Mr Luck and Lines of Magic, and they’ve kept working at it, launching over a dozen new titles since that first year.

While some of them do have more common themes, classic ones especially, I’ve also discovered quite a few unique choices. I’d mention The Wild Beast of Crete, the Book of Anunnaki, or The Kukers. The design quality tends to be above average, even if we’re talking about classics, where 40 Pixels would be a great example of a properly implemented retro look.

Gameplay-wise, some of their slots will be very simple, just what you’d expect from classics, but others change things up, adding up to 25x multipliers, free spins, wilds and so on.

The Kukers

The idea behind The Kukers is a unique one for a slot machine, with the main characters being based on man-beasts from Bulgarian folklore, dressed up as monsters and wearing bells. The whole setup is designed to keep away evil spirits. The slot has modern graphics, monsters which are more likely to feel cute than dangerous, and it’s the most recent release from Felix Gaming.

As for the setup, it’s a 5-reel slot, which has 25 lines. It can deliver top wins of 1,500x the stake. In addition to respins, a Portal zone will turn regular Kukers into extra wilds, when the right symbol comes along.

40 Pixels

40 Pixels is a good example of a classic slot machine done right. Everyone else creates the same dated-looking designs for fruit slots, but Felix Gaming took it one step further. They went for the 8-bit look in this case, and they made its symbols look even older and more basic than everyone else. Even so, it ended up being a unique title in a very crowded category, and the whole 80s retro video game look works well for it.

Relying on 5×4 reels with 40 paylines, the game has at least some modern aspects, including the presence of regular scatters and wilds. Not that volatile, this 2020 release offers prizes of up to 500x the stake.

It’s a Joker

Another excellent game, where Felix Gaming proved that they could do a better job than most, is a 3-reel slot machine called It’s a Joker. You’re looking at a classic that has a creepy clown for its main character, a regular killer by his looks. Designed for Halloween, back in 2018, it’s still one of their more interesting releases so far.

3 reels will deliver only 5 lines, but there are additional bonus reels, which can trigger free spins and up to 25x multipliers. Wilds are there to help as well, in what is a game with low volatility and wins of up to 120x the stake.

Final Thoughts on Felix Gaming

Felix Gaming is a new developer, there have been only a couple of years since they launched, and they’re still not widely known or easily accessible in plenty of countries. They had a good start, though, and I believe it’s a company worth checking out if it makes it to a casino where you’re a member.

I’ve found plenty of interesting things in their slot machines, the graphics tend to be pretty good, and the mix of features will often hit the right spot as well.
